SUSHI, WHAT’S THAT?
Making its reputation as Street food the Asian kitchen is now widely seen as a delicacy. And a Sushi restaurant is indispensable in the Western society. Sushi is served in several small bites, usually consisting of rice, nori, and raw fish. The origin of Sushi lays in Osaka. People started fermenting rice and fish to extend the expiration date. This technique is still being used to flavour Bluefin Tuna. In the 18th century raw fish was more widely distributed, that made fermenting no longer necessary. To keep the flavours equal people started adding rice vinegar to the sushi rice.
TRADITIONAL WAY TO EAT SUSHI:
In Japan people traditionally start with Sashimi and Uramaki’s. For Uramaki’s you don’t use chopsticks, for Sashimi it is preferred. The side of sushi containing fish is dipped in soy. The additional wasabi is not only very tasteful: it has antibacterial qualities. Ginger is there to balance the flavours between the different rolls. After a couple of rounds of sushi people tend to order some hot dishes and they will usually finish with Maki rolls. But no matter what the circumstances are, the most important thing is to enjoy. A night in our Sushi Restaurant is meant to be an experience of tasting, laughing and unity.

Sushi restaurant Masami opened its doors in June of 2019, in the middle of the Business district in Hoofddorp. The kitchen team is led by chef Tanurak Somchit. With his years of experience in London, Berlin and Ibiza, this culinary athlete sets the standard high for himself and his team. This is results in his creative dishes. With options to eat outside or privately, we make every night special. The waiters are well-trained and precise in their job and will do their very best to create the ultimate experience.
